Kriek is a cherry lambic style beer which originated in Belgium. The Funk Factory in Madison, WI is making its own kriek using traditional natural fermentation. The creator, Andrew Holzhauer, turned making kriek into a family affair by using his own cherry orchard and getting help with picking from his family members. He even used the Dutch name for the street the orchard is on as the name for the beer. The beer is aged for 10 months with the cherries, then bottled and released after an additional 5 months.
